told you so

you say it over and over again, friend
you say you're bad, but you don't try to amend
nor your thoughts, nor your actions
do you like those little satisfactions
like the pain in the eyes of those who trusted you
when they realise your words were true?

don't you find it funny, m'dear
you tell the truth, and don't change, out of fear
very well aware you'll lose everyone you care about
but you're kept in place, crippled by your own doubt

hide behind the smiles! that's right!
don't let anyone see your inner fight
smile, and charm those around you
you poor, beautiful, never-changing fool

and when you're left alone
when everyone else is gone
out of your mouth those words go:
"i told you so!"
but what purpose do these words hold
now when you're so lonely, and, oh, so cold?
i told you so.
i told you so.
